ROSETA SANTIAGO

" How far I can search, excavate or paint my way into art that interests me, is what I am about. I have an enormous curiosity. I am not satisfied with just portraying figures standing still or pots lit strategically. I want to evoke the circumstances of these subjects; where was this pot?, what was going on while I captured a life on canvas? I love the historically correct vignettes, but also am embarking on what I would call romantically embellished history without boundaries, keeping the thread of reality but taking artistic license when I need to.  These are not misrepresenting history, but are obviously "fantastical".  I would call myself my best "guide" in that I paint for myself.  This has been the strongest year for me financially and in in my painting evolvement because the wonderful people that represent me take the time to understand who I am and what and why I paint.  They have built an incredible collector base because of that.  I paint every day."
